"Collecting Art" is a delight for me; and has been so for many years. From searching for specific artists, or works, to buying the art; and specially enjoying the art itself. Unfortunately, over the years the challenge has changed from acquiring art to finding a place to exhibit all that I have accumulated! My collection is not focused on any particular period, type, or medium. This collection is about the artists I like; some great, and some not so great!
On these pages you will find listed the artwork in my collection. Many of the items are for sale; and should any interest you, please email, or call me at (514) 944_7027.
For each artist I have made a master page with his/her works, biography, sales price, and comparable prices available for similar works.
My collection reflects my extensive travels, that have over the years taken me to Asia, Europe, the Americas and the Middle East. At the time, foreign artists were rarely known outside their country. Traveling exposed me to the international art scene. Some of that art is also enclosed.
Another great US artist was sculptor Frederick Hart, and his "Daughters Of Odessa" sculpture (Maquette, in Terracotta Patina). The full size sculpture was made for Prince Charles' estate. Other US artists included Benjamin Chambers Brown's (Arkansas) impressionist desert landscapes, George Elbert Burr's (Ohio) drawings of old and weathered pine trees, Frances Farrand Dodge (Maryland) with her colorful landscapes, portraits, etchings, & illustrations...
Several contemporary artists caught my eye during my visits to Minnesota; such as Catherine Johnson, Catherine Day, Ta-Coumba Aiken, Paul Theodore Granlund,..
From the United Kingdom I have works by the 6 artists on the right. The subject matter is varied, to say the least, and the time period spans over a century and a half.
Elizabeth Thompson is the earliest of these artists. Appointed by Queen Victoria to follow British military campaigns and battles she became well known for portraying wars' "pathos and heroism".
to be continued! The site is a work in progress! |
